Welcome to the family discussion lists. If you have used the RootsWeb surname discussion lists in the past and have found them to be a good resource for family history research; you will appreciate our family history discussion lists. As much as I enjoy the RootsWeb lists I have also found that I get inundated with so much email that is unrelated to what I am working on that I eventually quit reading the 50+ emails I receive a day. I know I must have missed that important post I was looking for on my most elusive ancestor. Discussion lists was one of the many things I had wish I could provide for my family history site, now that is a reality! So here they are;

Here's how the discussion lists work:
If you are a descendent or just researching of one of the individuals I have included as a discussion list you may subscribe to the list. You will receive a confirming email which will require action by you to confirm that you wish to subscribe. Once confirmed, you may send questions, cemetery listings, family history, etc. to the list by sending an email. All email sent to the list will be forwarded to every subscriber (cousin) on the list. Any cousin may reply to your email, which will also be sent to everyone subscribed to the list. All email sent to the list will be archived and searchable via your web browser. I may not have set up every surname head of family, if you have a request for an additional list, please email me.

To use these lists, a few simple rules apply:

• You must have a valid email address to subscribe.
• No spam email may be sent to the list with junk posts or advertisements.
• No flaming (internetese for mean or obnoxious posts) other members directly or to the list.
• Posts must be in plain text, no HTML please.
• No email attachments, and no excessively lengthy emails.
• You may subscribe or unsubscribe at any time.
• You may subscribe to multiple lists.
• If your email starts rejecting I will unsubscribe the address and you will have to re-subscribe.
• Off subject posts are not appreciated by other list members.

Off subject posts include those internet posts that are forwarded concerning missing
children, pleas for financial help, jokes, etc. All of these are hoaxes designed to collect
email addresses or part you from your money.

• All rules subject to change.

List members email addresses will not be sold, given or used for spam email. However, members may receive email announcements, etc. from me, if you don't wish to receive these just unsubscribe from the list. I am the sole arbitrator for the discussion lists and reserve the right to black list (remove) any subscriber that breaks the rules or otherwise causes havoc upon the server, web site or in my opinion otherwise disrupts the use of the list for others.
