| The John Quincy Perry and Lola Lee Parsons family purchased their homestead February 21, 1917, located on Cat's Creek, Adams Township, Washington County, OH. They had been married just over five years and already had three boys.In those five years they had lived in Lincoln Co., WV, Parkersburg, WV and Lowell, OH, which would become their final resting place. The homestead was purchased for $3,000 from Frederic J. Baesel and his wife Lizzie. John Q. paid $100 and a Mortgage Deed for $2,900 recorded in V94, p11. Frederic Baesel had acquired the property from J. Nicholas Baesel, a widower, for $1,500 on October 9, 1897, recorded in V122 p583. The property was 100 acres more or less bounded by Cat's Creek Allotment, in an original surveyed Township #4, Range 9. The homestead is still in the Perry family, now owned by Ellis Perry and having been refurbished by Genesee Jack Perry, both sons of John Q. The picture was taken about 1980.
